CULTURE, CELLARS AND GASTRONOMY
10:15 am
Arrival by your own to the Roman Villas Museum and the Almenara-Puras Roman Villa (Valladolid), centers of relevant tourist interest of Castilla y León.
The museum complex consists of two complementary buildings:
The Museum of Roman Villas, first tourist-cultural space of this kind that can be visited in Spain; the second building covers the remains recovered from the luxurious manor house of Almenara-Puras Ancient Roman Villa.
The Museum of Roman Villas offers a very complete vision of Roman rustic life. Its contents explain how the life of that era was in the countryside through the most characteristic rural constructions: the villas.
ROMAN VILLA
The visit of the villa house is done on a raised walkway that allows a complete view of the villa; the path shows the distribution of the different patios and rooms, with their mosaic or mortar floors, and part of the original paintings still attached to the wall.
The house, built in the 4th century and inhabited until the 5th century, has two courtyards around which 30 rooms are set; almost half of them are paved with mosaic floors. In addition, there are hot pools that are accessed by a corridor that ends in a large room with a three-lobed floor.
